bulldog pups?
my bulldog is due pups in two weeks time should i up her calcium intake

- ask your vet. there arent many really inteligent people on here. they could suggest something that would hurt your dog. call up your vet and ask. calling is no charge.
- if you don't want to ask your vet, ring the RSPCA, for advice.
- Your pregnant dog should be eating puppy food through her whole pregnancy which has the higher fats,protein and minerals she needs to support skeletal/muscle growth in the puppies. A calcium supplement is not necessary if you are on a high quality premium pet food as a calcium supplement may suppress her natural calcium releasing hormones so that when she really needs the extra calcium while nursing, she will not have the proper hormone balance to get it. this can create a very serious situation. In short, Feed your female puppy food while she is pregnant and nursing, after nursing, slowly introduce her back to her old food while starting the puppies on the puppy food you were feeding her. good luck!
- If you are feeding a high quality food, your dog should not need supplements. Giving extra calcium on its own can be counter-productive.
