  1. well an bulldog is more muscalar than the pit
  2. Although the term "pit bull" is used most often to refer to three breeds of dog: the American Pit Bull Terrier, the American Staffordhsire Terrier, and the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, sometimes the American Bulldog and the Bull Terrier are lumped in there as well. The Am Bulldogs still have the terrier in them from early breeding and so can be included in the pit bull type breeds. However, they are generally considered to be more of a "working" dog nowadays. The bottom line is both the Am bulldog and the classic pit bull breeds share a common ancestry and some genetic components.
  3. there is no such breed as the pit bull, often american staffordshire terriers, bull terriers, staffordshire bull terriers, and american bulldogs are all lumped together and called pit bulls
  4. An American Bulldog is an accepted breed, but a pitbull can be more variable, an offshoot of a American Staffordshire Terrier. Checkout the pictures to compare with yours. The eyes, head shape, and muzzle are a little different. http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/americanbulldog.htm http://www.pitbull411.com/profile.html
  5. They are similar breeds, but the American Bulldog is generally taller and slightly leaner than the APBT, which is usually a shorter, stockier dog. Also, American Bulls have a longer, more squared-off head than a Pit, which should have a shorter muzzle and slightly rounded head. Some people just see any Bully breed and assume they're all the same- lack of education!
  6. Pitbull is another term for bullbreeds. Pitbull is not a breed, but a group of breeds, and it includes American Pit Bull Terriers, American Bulldogs, American Staffordshire Terriers, etc. American Bulldogs descended partly from catchweight American Pit Bull Terriers in the late 1960s, and since then other breeds have been added inluding: Bulldog, Boxer, Neopolitan Mastiff, Dogue de Bourdeaux, St. Bernard, Catahoula, and more American Pit Bull Terrier. So, your AB is a pitbull, so people have been correct. If you know your dog's pedigree, and want to know what breeds are behind it, let me know. Andrew
