Can I sell the pups from my AKC registered English Bulldog, even though I'm not USDA certified? I have two English Bulldogs that we will be breeding. Do Bulldog pups get darker as they age or lighter? Which dog should I get? I'm trying to decide between two bulldogs. I've already put a deposit down on one but I can change my mind to the other as long as it's not yet been sold. Here are the two I'm choosing between.. She looks a bit darker in the picture then she does in person. She's got that one really beautiful ear. She's a somewhat calm dog but fearless... She's really got a great personality. I also worry that her mask will make her look mean which isn't really the look I'm going for. I'm also not trying to show or anything but she's got some really good, almost show-qualities about her. She's got a fairly short back, very short legs, very wide shoulders and a deep chest.. she's going to be a good looking dog either way but I wonder if she'll be a dark brindle or a red brindle. Her parents are red and white and a red brindle and white but she does have a female litter mate who's such a dark brindle that she's almost got black spots. They aren't black for sure but from a distance you'd think they were. The other one I am considering is a bold male. He's also calm but when he warmed up to me his personality shined through and that little guy won my heart too.. It made things very difficult. - He's got more of a neck then the girl does.. her head practically sits on her shoulders wheras he's got a neck but not too much neck. his back is a little longer then hers but it's not too long. He's just got a little bit of a different shape. He looks just like his dad and his dad is a VERY good looking bulldog. (these are English Bulldog pups btw). So the male is going to be really beautiful. He's got that deep red shiny coat. He's got a spot over one eye and the other side of his face is almost pure white with just a few freckles on his right ear.. Both dogs are VERY wrinkly and both have great personalities. I just worry that the female will be a dark brindle and possibly look mean because of her mask, which are neither things that I'm looking for. If she'll be a red brindle I'd like to stick with my decision to keep her.. but if not then I'm going to change my deposit over to the male. Which would you choose? Do you think she'll be a dark brindle or a red brindle? Didgets, I appreciate the reply but I've already said both have great personalities. I know how to choose by personality. That is why I've chosen these two out of the litter. Now I've got to decide by looks because they will both be great, personality wise at least. Neither one is dominant, neither one is the feistiest of their gender in the group... Neither is shy, neither is super hyper, neither is super lazy or anxious or timid. They really do have great personalities. The reputable showers/breeders always save a couple (and often several) puppies out of their litters and I'm not going to pay full price ($2500 or more) for the left overs in the litter that don't look anything like I'd want and have personality flaws Instead I found a BYB.. who is actually reputable. Has done the hip and joint imaging tests, offers a health guarantee, still has dogs from champion lines but they don't show because they have children and showing is time consuming. These people also sell their dogs for about $600 less which isn't a big deal but at least if I'm going to pay full price I get a show at first or second pick of the litter. And again, I am NOT picking just by color. I picked these two puppies out of a litter of 8! I liked their personalities the best and the were NOT the first two puppies that came up to me or that I held. I picked these two for their personality and now choosing between the two I've moved on to looks. The whole litter was beautiful. First off, I don't plan on showing. Now as for knowing the pup has show qualities (or almost)... I am not making that assessment from the pictures. I've seen these puppies in person. Both dogs are from Champion bloodlines, the father is a Champion. I know his informal name is Hercules, I didn't ask his show name as it doesn't matter to me. I can't remember the females name. I wouldn't normally go through the classifieds HOWEVER I was on a list with a AKC judge who breeds to get himself show prospects (so once or twice a year) for a few months for their next litter.. because their next litter won't happen for another 6 months or so then they referred me to another person who shows and has a litter once or twice a year. They had a very large litter and I decided I liked the look of 4 of the pups, well 3 of the 4 they are keeping to show so I'm left with one of my choices and I'm pretty far down the list so I won't be getting it I'm sure. Okay.. when I said "look mean" I didn't mean that their looks would have any effect on their personalities. I'm sure there are plenty of pitbulls out there that look mean as can be but are big babies. (I've never owned one so I'm just assuming). I'm not looking to get a dog that looks mean though. I don't need people coming to my house and being afraid of my dog or people being afraid when I go for a walk thinking the dog is mean. I'm sure either dog will be gorgeous. I don't know how you think your opinion is professional but I highly doubt it because any professional wouldn't have as much free time to answer questions on here as you do. Just because you own a dog doesn't make you a professional on the subject. And if I wanted the ears rosed the breeder would do it. I was asked and I said I did not. Again, I am not showing the dog. It's going to be a family pet. I like the floppy ear look better. If I were buying a boxer I wouldnt' have it's ears done either. Just a personal choice A reputable breeder would not have time to post on Yahoo answers enough to be a "Top Contributor" By the way, any breeder can call themselves reputable... most if not all will... Just because you breed does not make you reputable. A reputable bulldog breeder would not be breeding bulldogs that need their ears glued. Quality bulldogs produce pups who's ears will naturally rose overtime. If you need to glue a dogs ears you shouldn't be showing or breeding.

Dura Whelp or The Whelping Box? For English Bulldog pups? Has anyone had any experiance with any of these whelping boxes? I know there is a huge price differance with the Whelping box being $640 and the Dura whelp half that so I was wondering how well did the dura whelp realy hold up? is it worth it just to get the Whelping Box and the Weaning pen? We have 2 litters of English Bully babes due within 5 days of each other in the next month. We have always used the XT play Yard which has worked well with previous litters but with 2 litters comming so close together I need something bigger I can then keep all the pups together. Any other suggestions for whelping boxes with a weaning pen I can add on will be great, ive only found the 2 soo far. I Obviously know this, I have been raising English Bulldogs for many years. I always keep Puppies if I have 2 litters together not the mothers, I never ever leave pups with the mother at all only for feedings in which I look over and each have their own seperate areas for feeding their own puppies. I just find keeping all the pups in one area easier for me to keep an eye on everyone. My question was about the quality of the boxes and which one is the best.

Can a French Bulldog survive in a hot country? I currently reside in England and am looking to get a french bulldog pup in the summer. However in the next few years, once I finish my studies I may move to India (or another hot country) and of course will want to take my dog wherever I go. I read somewhere that short snouted dogs cannot survive in hot countries. Is this true? I love the french bulldog but I wouldn't want it to go through hell in a hot country where it can't breath! Our American Bulldog just had pups? She appeared to have a normal birth of 10 pups on Sunday morning and just awhile ago, we tried to let her out to go outside and use the restroom and instead headed into our bedroom and was trying to go underneath our bed?
